This year’s Warrior Weekend will be different from previous years, as we will not be housing, hosting and transporting wounded veterans/veterans in need and their families for a 3 day weekend event as we have in the past. As 9/11 falls on a Friday and realizing that many of these soldiers as well as our own communities will be paying respect to those who had perished, we have decided to hold a single day of activities on September 12th, that our entire community can participate in while helping our cause to honor and enable wounded veterans and veterans in need. During the 22 weeks leading up to the third Warrior Weekend, Cow Harbor Warriors will have a succession of awareness activities and fund raising events designed to publicize not only the Cow Harbor Warrior Weekend, but, more importantly, the reasons why it is so incredibly necessary to hold this event – including letting the public know about issues affecting veterans.
The Capt. Joseph J. Boccia Jr. USMC 4-Mile Warrior Run: Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone officially announced the formation of the Suffolk County Veterans Racing Series and we are honored to have the Capt. Joseph Boccia 4 Mile Warrior Run as one of 6 races chosen in this endeavor. This Series will be participation based and will serve to publicize all participating races in the hopes of increasing turnout for all associated events. Those who run (or volunteer) in ALL races in the series will receive a special challenge coin; those who run (or volunteer) in a majority of races in the series will receive a participation medal.
Race RouteThe run starts at picturesque Crab Meadow Beach Park on Long Island Sound - travels a flat course along Makamah preserve, turns up a hill through a quiet Northport neighborhood, it continues along the rolling bluffs overlooking Northport Harbor, and it finishes fast back down a hill to a flat finish back at Crab Meadow Beach.
Saturday - September 12th - 7:15am Crab Meadow Golf Course
On Saturday Sept 12, 2015, The Cow Harbor Warriors will hold its 2nd “Driving for the Brave” Golf tournament at Northport's own Crab Meadow Golf Course, orginazated by Hoops of Northport. This is one of sporting events that will be taking place on Cow Harbor Warrior Weekend in order to raise funds and awareness for organizations that help advance our wounded vets past their injuries. By inviting Tri-State Wounded Warriors and our community to participate in a three day event that our friends, families and the Northport community could get behind , we in turn, empower and honor our wounded service men and women. The 9 hole golf tournament will give Northport and surrounding area golfers the chance to play for our wounded warriors from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Golf Tournament SponsorshipsPin Flag and Tee box sponsorships are now available.
This is a great opportunity to market your company and show your support for the Wounded Warriors.
